B-1 stands for Bookshelf One: the first loudspeaker in the Moch Audio line.
It's a two-way, rear-ported design built around a 6.5″ paper-cone woofer and a 1″ silk-dome tweeter, joined at 1.7 kHz by a hand-assembled 2nd-order crossover. Development took more than a year of prototyping, measurement, and critical listening, and the finished speaker carries the Moch Audio house tuning — accurate and detailed, with a natural midrange warmth and a treble voiced for long sessions rather than short demos.
The B-1 is for listeners who want to hear their records, not their speakers: enough resolution to reward a good recording, enough musicality to forgive an imperfect one. Every pair is built and finished by hand in Ohio, and every pair ships with a 30-day in-home trial — because the only demo room that matters is yours.

Design
The Crossover
The B-1 crosses from woofer to tweeter at an unusually low 1.7 kHz, so the small, agile tweeter — not the 6.5″ woofer — carries the upper midrange, where the ear is most sensitive. Vocals and instruments sit clear and open in that region instead of straining against a large cone. The network is a 2nd-order crossover, chosen for its smooth phase behavior between drivers, and every board is hand-assembled with polypropylene capacitors and air-core inductors — parts selected for low distortion, not low cost.
The Drivers
The woofer is a 6.5″ paper cone, chosen for the natural, uncolored midrange character that paper still does better than almost anything else. The tweeter is a 1″ silk dome: smooth, extended, and free of edge. Neither driver is exotic on paper. Both were selected after long comparison listening, and the entire speaker — crossover, cabinet, and tuning — was voiced around them.
The Cabinet
The enclosure is dense MDF with internal bracing, keeping the panels rigid so the cabinet stays out of the music. The rear port and internal volume are tuned to the woofer for bass that extends cleanly without boom. Each cabinet is finished by hand in matte black enamel. Magnetic grilles are included; the B-1 is voiced with the grilles off, but the difference is mild and either way is fair game.
